Up for sale is this 1964 Pontiac Tempest Wagon equipped with a 326/250hp engine and a automatic transmission. This wagon was built in Fremont Ca.factory and sold in the San Francisco Bay Area.This car has spent it's entire life in a dry California climate and has had only 2 owners.The car was bought in 1977 from the original owner then driven for two years then put in a garage for 15 years. The car has been freshened up and put back into daily use.The original interior is still in the car having just a couple of tears on the front seat. This wagon is very dry in all of the usual rust areas: floors,hood,fenders,quarters,ect.are all rust free. The only area with any rust is the bottom edge ot the passenger front door.All glass is original and in good condition.All electrical works as it should: tail lights,brake lights,horn, dash lights, gauges,(full tank of gas) oil/generator/temp lights,reverse lights, dome light,radio still works,cigarette lighter, ect. all work as they should. The left rear tail light will be replaced with a new one this week. This wagon is very pleasant to drive and gets many compliments wherever it goes.I wouldn't hesitate to get in and drive this thing anywhere.Overall this is a very nice original 2 owner survivor and you would be hard pressed to find another in this condition anytime soon.Clear California title included with the sale. Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina.
